“A Mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside of yourself.” – Oprah Winfrey.

January is Mentoring Month, and I wanted to share this quote and some tips to help illuminate some of the reasons you might want to consider mentoring as a tool to build your career or business.

Frankly, my business wouldn’t be where it is today if it weren’t for the women and men who have mentored me along the way. They have come in every shape and form. Some with wicked smart business systems. Others, with compassion and the gift of asking just the right questions to get the answers from within myself. Many with gifts of the skills I needed to acquire. I am grateful for each of them daily!

So, do you need a mentor?

A mentor is an experienced and trusted advisor willing to share their expertise for the benefit of others who are less experienced. That’s it! And, sure, a mentor can share business strategies, help you plot a career path, but a mentor can also help you to feel hope! A mentor is someone you can bounce ideas off of, get input from, brainstorm with so you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.

There are 3 things that I want you to remember:

  1. If you can think it or dream it, there is someone who can mentor you to figure it out.
  2. Mentors are especially important when you ARE your business and don’t have a team to support you.
  3. Mentoring is as much about chemistry as any other relationship. Make sure you feel trust and connection with the people you chose for this critical role.

I’m not sure if you knew, but I expanded my business to professionally mentor women and emerging leaders with customized virtual and live programming to help them get clarity of career direction and also a road map to get there!

If this sounds like it might be of interest to you or someone you knowI’d love to hear from you.
